Te Manawa Trip

On Thursday 16th February 2012 room 6 at Tokomaru School went to learn about flood and erosion.
Once room 6 got to Te Manawa from a long trip in the car. Most of room 6 was sitting on the 3D Te Manawa sign. It looked really cool because the red was mixed in with the big black letters. When we were about to get into the big building I saw my uncles mum (Margret) who works in the rugby section. Room 6 got inside when Barbara was waiting for us in the water room. The first thing I saw was a big tunnel. I didn’t know what it was for but I guessed it was for the water to run down into a pipe. After 10-20 minutes we were playing a game POO STICKS!!! The game was to let the water run for a bit then have a race to see what stick would win.
The volunteer Alwyn was putting buckets sand into the stream. Moio, Te and I were a team and had to make a a farm and try to not get damaged or get flushed away. Each team got 1 tree, 3 animals, 1 house and 4 fence posts. My team had our farm in the middle of the island and nothing got flushed away. There was a river bend and get faster. Some other team’s parts of their sides got flushed away it was exciting.
